Terms of Service

1. The service

Bumpstudy consists of a browser extension that captures words and phrases you look up while reading, and a website that stores them and schedules spaced-repetition reviews. Some features call third-party AI models to produce translations and explanations.

2. Your account

• You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure.
• You are responsible for activity under your account.
• You must be at least 16 years old.
• One person per account; do not share access to circumvent plan limits.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the service to break any law, or to infringe anyone’s rights;
• attempt to bypass rate limits or quotas, or automate requests to overload the service;
• reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the service without permission;
• upload content that is illegal, malicious, or that you have no right to process.

We may suspend accounts that abuse the service, with notice where reasonably possible.

4. Your content

You keep all rights to the text you capture and the items in your library. You grant us a limited licence to store, process and display that content solely to operate the service for you. We do not publish your library or share it with other users.

5. AI output

Translations and explanations are machine-generated, may be inaccurate or incomplete, and are provided “as is”. Review them before relying on them.

6. Plans and payment

• Free plans include limited daily AI usage; paid plans raise those limits.
• Paid subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and are billed through Stripe.
• You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period.
• Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.
• We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice before your next renewal.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify or discontinue features; if we discontinue the service entirely, we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your data.

8. Termination

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may terminate or suspend accounts that materially breach these terms.

9. Disclaimers and liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided without warranties of any kind. Our total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or, if you are on a free plan, to zero). We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost data where you did not use the export feature.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong SAR, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be brought before the courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer law in your country provides otherwise.
